When I chose to do the internship I was newly saved and just starting a new clean lifestyle. I was attending church every week but still just felt like I was missing something. When I saw last year’s interns graduate God showed me that my next step was to get plugged in deeper than ever, serve the body, and become a leader. That’s when I knew I what I was missing was the relationships and revelation God was about to bring to me through the internship.

Before the internship I had a character of fear and my decisions were made by my emotions. Through this last year I have developed a character of love and learned to make my decisions based on how I can help others grow. I have learned that we already have all we need to demonstrate Satan’s defeat every day of our lives but it’s up to us if we are going to obey and apply Gods word to our life. Before the internship I felt worthless and now God has tore the veil and showed me He has been with me all this time and He is going to use me to change the world.

I started the internship, because I didn’t know what I was doing with my life, and it felt like I wasnt going anywhere. I had heard about the internship, and it seemed like God was calling me to do it. I wasn’t 100% certain, but I figured that I didn’t have anything else going for me so I might as well give it a try.

The internship developed my character and my relationship with God amazingly! I went from being lazy, selfish, and lost and confused about my life, to being disciplined, and knowing that God has a plan for my life. I now know how to be a great husband to my wife, I know how to be a great dad to my two kids, and I know how to be a man of God even through storms.

I did the Internship at the Garden after deciding to take ownership of my faith and acknowledging my need for direction, not being sure how to develop my relationship with God. I had attended the Garden for a few years, only rarely coming to church because I was at college, but the one thing that stuck with me about the church was that whenever I was there I felt like I was at home. So I didn’t know what to do or how to do it, but I knew that the Garden was where I needed to be. When the opportunity for the Internship came up I honestly really didn’t want to do it, but knew that it was God’s desire for me to go through with it.

The internship gave me direction when I had none. I knew who Jesus was and what He did, and that my life was somehow supposed to model that, but I had no idea what that looked like for my life or how to be like Him. The internship gave me the foundation to stand on and build on in my relationship with God and the tools to do it with. The overall growth, character development, increase of understanding, and relationships that only took me one year to build was incredible and well-worth the difficulties and challenges I encountered along the way.

The Internship at the Garden was one of the most life changing experiences in my entire life! The leadership I learned and the hardships I overcame still continue to impact my daily life even up to this very day! There were so many reasons I joined the internship, but my number one reason was to team up and serve my local church along side some of the most influential leaders I know! It was a game changer for the way that I see myself as a disciple and a leader.

Although there are so many fun perks to this internship- it’s more about building character and becoming a true disciple of God. I was influenced and disciplined daily by God’s Word and the leaders He had placed over me. It really challenged me to be the best I could be and ultimately helped me prove to myself what I was really made of. This internship brought out the best in me and the worst. It showed me areas of strength where I could shine and areas of weakness where I needed to do some house cleaning of my heart. As I walk in God Life daily I now know who I am in Christ and what I am able to accomplish with Him on my side and His Word in my heart.
