What is “The Garden?”
The Garden exists to reach people who are far from God and walk with them to a place where they’re walking with, and for, God. Regardless of where you are in life, we know that God has an amazing plan and purpose just for you and we’d love to be a part of it! Many people, just like you, are involved in helping the Garden effectively accomplish what the Lord has called us to do! If you’re not sure who could best help with a particular question, just e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call the office at (509) 735-1350 and we’ll do our best to connect you with the right person.
The Garden is non-denominational and is affiliated with the Full Gospel Fellowship of Churches and Ministers Inc. of Oregon, the organization Pastor Thom was ordained under for over 20 years. During the early days of the Garden, Pastor Thom became ordained under the leadership of Pastor Rick Sharkey and Spokane Christian Center and Pastor Sharkey continues to be our Pastor’s Pastor.
A Little History
Thom and Shelby Fields answered the call of God to plant The Garden Christian Assembly (GCA) on February 19, 2005. After lots of hard work and many cleaning parties, we moved into our location on Clearwater Avenue in November of 2005. Since then, we’ve seen an exponential growth and are positioning ourselves for the next steps in God’s plan for the Garden, which has included the purchase and remodel of our campus at 6811 W. Okanogan Place, Kennewick WA 99336!
What to Expect
In addition to having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, family (related or not) is the most important thing in life. Healthy, fulfilled people make up healthy, fulfilled families that are able to help others in our community live life to the fullest! When we get together for church, it shouldn’t be a “religious” experience…it should be a relevant one. Church should leave you encouraged, challenged, and enlightened! When you join us, you should expect:
- A casual atmosphere
- Friendly people who are glad you’re here
- Worship that invites – and expects – the presence of God to touch lives and heal hearts
- Relevant messages you can apply in everyday life
- A fun and safe place for your kids – from babies to teens
As you get to know us, you’ll see that we really do enjoy doing life together and we really do believe that together, we’re better! Pastor Thom & Shelby Fields and the families of the Garden
What We Believe
We believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each is individual in person but one in unity as the Godhead. The Father is God; the Son, Jesus Christ, is God; and the Holy Spirit is God. (Gen 1:1; Matt. 3:16, 17; 28:19; John 1:1-4)
The Inspired Word of God
We believe that the Bible, made up of 66 books, is the Word of God. It is the truth, inspired by God and the way of life for all Christians. (Psalm 119; 2 Tim. 3:16, 17)
We believe that every person is in need of salvation and a spiritual birth to receive eternal life, and that salvation is available to every person through the life, crucifixion, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (John 3:1-21; 1 John 5:1-4)
The Local Church
We believe in the Church, the body of Christ. It is the local assembly of Christians and the center of healing and spiritual growth for all believers. (Psalms 92:13, 14; Matt. 16:18; Eph. 1:22, 23)
Reaching the Lost
We believe in evangelism, that all people should be saved, and that all Christians should participate on a local and worldwide scale in that mission. (Matt. 28:18, 19; Mark 16:15-18; Acts 1:8)
Baptism in the Holy Spirit
We believe all born again people can and should be baptized with the Holy Spirit and speak with other tongues. (Mark 16:17; Acts 1:8; 2:1-4; 10:44-46; 19:1-7)
Healing for All
We believe physical healing has been bought for all through the crucified body of Jesus. (Isa. 53:3-5; Matt. 8:16,17; 1 Peter 2:24)
We believe in water baptism for the born again person and the regular receiving of the Lord’s body and blood in the communion service. (Matt. 3:16; 28:19; Acts 8:36-39)
We believe that marriage is a divine institution between a man and a woman and should be honored as such. (Gen. 2:20-25; Matt. 19:3-8; Eph. 5:22-33)
We believe that every person (including the unborn) is important to God and has divine value and an eternal destiny given by God. (Psalm 139:13-18; John 3:16; Eph. 1:3-6, 16-19; 2:10)
Christ is Coming Again! We believe in the eminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ for those who are born again. (Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thess. 4:14-18; 5:1-4)
