The Garden exists to lead people into a victorious Christian experience! Learning to walk with God by aligning our lives with the Word of God is one of our primary objectives. As we grow and locate our fit within the body, we position ourselves to win in life and to humiliate hell.
Our assignment is to develop multitudes of Christ-Followers who have a heart for the people of this region and who are willing to use their lives to influence others. We see ourselves planting numerous gardens rather than building one individual congregation. Our mission includes developing people and activating many into kingdom business through a multi-campus ministry.
The Garden is non-denominational and is affiliated with the Full Gospel Fellowship of Churches and Ministers Inc. of Oregon, the organization Pastor Thom was ordained under for over 20 years. During the early days of the Garden, Pastor Thom became ordained under the leadership of Pastor Rick Sharkey and Spokane Christian Center and Pastor Sharkey continues to be our Pastor’s Pastor.
How We Started
Thom and Shelby Fields answered the call of God to plant The Garden Christian Assembly (GCA) on February 19, 2005. After lots of hard work and many cleaning parties, we moved into our location on Clearwater Avenue in November of 2005. Since then, we’ve seen an exponential growth and are positioning ourselves for the next steps in God’s plan for the Garden, including the purchase and remodel of our new location at 6811 W. Okanogan Place!
Looking for a place to grow? See yourself planted at the Garden!
In addition to having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, family (related or not) is the most important thing in life. Healthy, fulfilled people make up healthy, fulfilled families able to help others in our community live life to the fullest!
When we get together for church, it shouldn’t be a “religious” experience…it should be a relevant one. Church should leave you encouraged, challenged, and enlightened! When you join us, you should expect:
- A casual atmosphere
- Friendly people who are glad you’re here
- Worship that invites – and expects – the presence of God to touch lives and heal hearts
- Relevant messages you can apply in everyday life
- A fun and safe place for your kids – from babies to teens
Thanks for taking the time to check out the Garden, where lives are being changed, people are growing, and families are being strengthened!
Pastor Thom & Shelby Fields
and the families of the Garden
We believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each is individual in person but one in unity as the Godhead. The Father is God; the Son, Jesus Christ, is God; and the Holy Spirit is God. (Gen 1:1; Matt. 3:16, 17; 28:19; John 1:1-4)
The Inspired Word of God
We believe that the Bible, made up of 66 books, is the Word of God. It is the truth, inspired by God and the way of life for all Christians. (Psalm 119; 2 Tim. 3:16, 17)
We believe that every person is in need of salvation and a spiritual birth to receive eternal life, and that salvation is available to every person through the life, crucifixion, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (John 3:1-21; 1 John 5:1-4)
The Local Church
We believe in the Church, the body of Christ. It is the local assembly of Christians and the center of healing and spiritual growth for all believers. (Psalms 92:13, 14; Matt. 16:18; Eph. 1:22, 23)
Reaching the Lost
We believe in evangelism, that all people should be saved, and that all Christians should participate on a local and worldwide scale in that mission. (Matt. 28:18, 19; Mark 16:15-18; Acts 1:8)
We believe in water baptism for the born again person and the regular receiving of the Lord’s body and blood in the communion service. (Matt. 3:16; 28:19; Acts 8:36-39)
Healing for All
We believe physical healing has been bought for all through the crucified body of Jesus. (Isa. 53:3-5; Matt. 8:16,17; 1 Peter 2:24)
Baptism in the Holy Spirit
We believe all born again people can and should be baptized with the Holy Spirit and speak with other tongues. (Mark 16:17; Acts 1:8; 2:1-4; 10:44-46; 19:1-7)
We believe that marriage is a divine institution between a man and a woman and should be honored as such. (Gen. 2:20-25; Matt. 19:3-8; Eph. 5:22-33)
We believe that every person (including the unborn) is important to God and has divine value and an eternal destiny given by God. (Psalm 139:13-18; John 3:16; Eph. 1:3-6, 16-19; 2:10)
Christ is Coming Again!
We believe in the eminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ for those who are born again. (Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thess. 4:14-18; 5:1-4)
